As founder of the Charatan Family Foundation, Debrah Lee Charatan has spent more than two decades facilitating positive change throughout New York City and beyond. A native New Yorker, Debrah formed the Foundation to enhance the quality of life for Greater New York City residents and foster a strong local community. The Foundation seeks to charitably support organizations that benefit the local populace while positively impacting the world as well. It contributes to a wide range of charitable causes within the arts, as well as social, environmental, medical and humanitarian pursuits. The Foundation funds organizations that include The Museum of Modern Art, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Chabad of Southampton, The Jewish Museum, the Central Park Conservancy, Chai Lifeline, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, and many others.

In addition to her work with the Foundation, Debrah Lee Charatan is currently vice chair of the board of trustees of Selfhelp Community Services Foundation, and is a member of the Jewish Partisans Educational Foundation. She serves on the Women’s Leadership Council of the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund and on the Real Estate Council of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

With over 40 years of industry expertise, Charatan is a serial entrepreneur within New York’s real estate market, brokering, investing and developing commercial, residential and mixed-use properties. She is the Founder and President of BCB Property Management, a full-service multifamily and mixed-use real estate firm that has acquired over 1.6 million square feet of real estate in New York and beyond, a portfolio that includes over 120 buildings and 1,800 apartments. Prior to BCB, Debrah owned and operated Bach Realty and Debrah Lee Charatan Realty.    

Widely recognized as an industry leader, Debrah Lee Charatan was named Glamour’s Outstanding Working Woman and the Women Business Owners of New York’s Up-and-Coming Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year. She’s been featured in publications such as USA Today, the New York Daily News, Forbes, Cosmopolitan, Inc., and Fortune, and has penned articles for the New York Law Journal, Real Estate Weekly, Real Estate Forum, Entrepreneur, The Huffington Post, VentureBeat, SCORE, and CFO.
