FACILITATING POSITIVE CHANGES IN THE NEW YORK CITY COMMUNITY.
WE SUPPORT:
The Arts
New York City has been an epicenter for artistic growth for over a century. Because it is a cultural as well as an artistic hub, it is important to both preserve and continue the arts so that those who live and visit can experience and participate the richness it has to offer.
From jazz to poetry to Broadway, to the magnificent collections of museums and cultural institutions, New York City is a historic city where many of the arts were developed, perfected and showcased. Art is natural, but it is not kept alive and thriving without effort. That’s why the Charatan Family Foundation believes in and supports organizations dedicated to sharing art with the world — through performance, exhibitions, education and more.

Jewish Initiatives
New York City is home to 1.1 million Jewish people, and has historically been a home for our people since before New York was New York, when Jews first settled in New Amsterdam. Since that time it has been not just a home, but a refuge for WWII refugees and Holocaust survivors who found religious freedom in a new land.
It may be impossible to support every Synagogue that keeps New York City’s Jewish communities thriving and connected, but through the advocacy of select Jewish Foundations, Museums, schools and institutions, the Charatan Family Foundation seeks to protect and further the wonderful legacy of Judaism and its participants.

Elderly / Disabled / Youth Care
The vulnerable in society are those in most need of care and protection, and in New York City it is no different. Elderly, disabled, and young people are often dependent on resources and caregivers for basic needs like mobility, shelter, and livelihood. Beyond the basics, these people deserve happiness and opportunity just like the rest of us.
That’s why at the Charatan Family Foundation we make a point of supporting organizations, nonprofits and initiatives that seek to improve the livelihoods of these people. The deaf, children with special needs or illnesses, and Holocaust survivors are all included in our efforts to even the playing field and bring joy to New Yorkers who need it.

Medical Care
Every family has been in need of medical care at one time or another. In New York City we have world class medical institutions, and yet some still struggle to get the care that they need when confronted with serious illnesses or other healthcare needs.
Whether it’s cancer or substance abuse, all New Yorkers deserve to benefit from innovative and effective medical solutions as well as education on prevention and support channels. The Charatan Foundation supports Foundations that help those waiting for organ and tissue transplants, those impacted by addition, those with liver disease, breast cancer, and more. With this help, we hope to influence the development of new treatments, cures, and lifelines so all New Yorkers can live longer, healthier lives.
